HISTORY

Marvin & Toni Weyer started Marvin & Toni's Bargain Barn with the idea that working folks needed a place to buy quality home furnishings at reasonable prices. In 1984, the Weyer's converted a pole barn located behind their house just outside Ferdinand, IN to a rustic, warehouse style furniture showroom. Because of the number of people employed during the daytime hours in the area's numerous factories, they decided to open during the evenings only, 4 pm to 8 pm and on Saturdays. Hours by which the Ferdinand store still operates under today. Within 6 months, the small barn could no longer house their burgeoning business. They moved into their current Ferdinand showroom with approximately 6,000 square feet of showroom space. Over the next 15 years, Marvin & Toni's Bargain Barn came to be known as a furniture store with quality home furnishings at discount prices. Their product line focused on local and American manufacturers priced as a value to their hard working customers. In 2000, they doubled the size of their Ferdinand location to 12,000 square feet to better showcase their quality goods. In 2003, they grew again by opening a second location in Jasper, IN's Southgate Shopping Center. This location offers over 25,000 square feet of showroom space allowing for an even wider selection of their home furnishing products.

Annual Anniversary Chuckwagon Supper & Barn Dance

Each year Marvin & Toni's Bargain Barn celebrates its Anniversary with a FREE chuckwagon supper and barn dance that is open to the public. Every year during the 2nd week of August, the parking lot of the Ferdinand location fills with approximately 500-700 people helping themselves to a complete Chuckwagon supper with all the fixins' and the great sounds of a good ol' fashioned country and western band. There's extended hours at both locations with the Ferdinand location being OPEN UNTIL MIDNIGHT! Of course, there's additional discounts offered to celebrate this event.

It's a Family Affair!

Marvin & Toni are proud of their family run operation. Each of Marvin & Toni's four kids have "helped out" at the store from time to time doing everything from cleaning to delivery and set up of furniture. The Weyer's youngest son, Clint, was the first to join the operation on a full time basis after his graduation from high school and during his collegiate years. During the opening of the Jasper location, two more children, Vicki and Nick, joined the Bargain Barn operation.
